Adolf Fredrik Lindblad was a Swedish composer from the Romantic era. He is mostly known for his compositions of Swedish song or lieder, of which he produced over 200. His other well-known compositions include his Symphony No. 1 in C major, Symphony No. 2 in D major, and an opera titled Frondörerna (The Rebels).
However, over the years his music for piano has been overshadowed by his many songs and choral compositions. Lindblad wrote some sixty pieces for piano, but the majority still only exist in manuscript.A couple of years ago, Oscar Ekberg decided to study Lindblad’s entire piano oeuvre, and this is the Adolf Fredrik Lindblad was born on 1 February 1801 in Skänninge, Östergötland and died on the farm Lövingsborg just outside of Linköping on 23 August 1878. Lindblad studied with J.C.F. Hæffner during 1823−24 in Uppsala. He studied in Berlin from 1825 to 1827 with Carl Friedrich Zelter, Adolf Fredrik Lindblad At the beginning of the nineteenth century there was little to boast about in Swedish music life.
